On September 27, 2025, students from the Department of Nutrition & Food Science – IUH joined the annual program on the theme: “Vegetarian Diet for the Prevention and Management of Chronic Diseases.”

🥗 A balanced vegetarian diet can:
✅ Support weight control
✅ Lower risks of diabetes, hypertension & heart disease
✅ Improve health & quality of life

💚 Every meal is a step toward long-term health!

This activity provided students with valuable hands-on experience to complement their academic knowledge, while also strengthening research collaboration and academic exchange between the two institutions.

We sincerely thank the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Gia Định People’s Hospital, for always providing opportunities and accompanying the Department in the joint mission of clinical nutrition training.

On April 1, 2025, the Department of Nutrition and Food Science – IUH had an interesting inter-student tour at the Yakult Factory – a famous fermented milk production facility that helps improve the digestive system and enhance intestinal health.

Interesting things we discovered:

The sterile, closed and modern Yakult milk production process ensures product quality.

Learn about the probiotic Lactobacillus casei Shirota, a great “friend” of the digestive system, helping to balance the intestinal microflora.

The role of probiotics in supporting health, especially the immune system.

Let’s look back at the memorable moments of this trip! Thank you Yakult Vietnam for your warm welcome and providing a lot of useful knowledge. Hope the Nutrition department will have more interesting practical activities!

On the morning of March 22, 2025, at Hall 3A of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, a community activity program took place with the theme “Protecting the kidneys – The body’s filter: Have you done well?” to respond to World Kidney Day, lecturers and students of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science – IUH also attended.

The program provided important information about chronic kidney disease through three main topics: “Who is at risk of chronic kidney disease?”, “Signs of chronic kidney disease” and “Effective treatment methods” to increase practical knowledge as well as opportunities to exchange, learn and share expertise with other units.

On October 18, 2024, the Department of Nutrition and Food Science in collaboration with Inbody Vietnam Company organized a workshop on “Orientation of community nutrition research using Inbody 770 health scale – Korea in 2024”.
Attending the workshop, in addition to representatives of Inbody Vietnam Company and lecturers of the department, there were also more than 40 lecturers in the school and more than 100 students majoring in Nutrition and Food Science.
At the workshop, a representative of Inbody Company introduced the function of the Inbody 770 health scale in supporting health checks and supporting research. In addition to instructions on how to use the machine, the company also lent the department the machine for 1 week to check the health indicators of lecturers and students. On the part of the department, Dr. Lam Khac Ky also introduced the Intermittent Fasting method to provide a solution to improve health parameters combined with testing with the Inbody machine.
The seminar took place in a lively atmosphere with many questions from the guests and thoroughly answered by the presenters. Here are some typical images of the seminar:

The global hashtag#AgrifoodSystem emits one third of the world’s greenhouse gases. Urgent mitigation action in the sector is needed to keep the goals of the hashtag#ParisAgreement achievable.

The World Bank Recipe for a Livable Planet report ? provides a comprehensive strategic framework and roadmap for achieving hashtag#NetZero in the agrifood system. It identifies the most cost-effective mitigation opportunities for specific country income groups and highlights that many of these mitigation actions deliver substantial co-benefits, such as improved food security and resilience.
