History
History

The Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology was established according to Decision No. 1277 / QĐ – DHCN dated 28/12/2007 by the Rector of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, formerly was the Experimental Center of Food Technology – Biology – Environment. In nearly 10 years of establishment and development, the Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology rose to become one of the university leading units in training, science, technology, and international cooperation. Organizational structure of the Institute consists of 4 specialized departments: Biotechnology, Food Technology, Food Safety and Quality Management, Nutrition and Food Science; with more than 30 specialized laboratories and an experimental garden equipped with modern and synchronous equipment.

In 2013, the Institute has developed the advanced training programs in food technology and in 2015, the Institute developed the advanced training programs in biotechnology.

Since 2014, the Institute of Biotechnology and Food Technology has implemented the CDIO approach to Food Technology and Biotechnology.

The two degree programs of Biotechnology and Food Engineering Technology are currently working on continuous improvement to apply for accreditation by ABET in 2020-2021. Therefore, the Institute has been focused on the school curriculum, textbooks, facilities as well as improving the quality of teaching staff to meet the standards of an international institution.
